Alderwood Basics Plus 2009
On behalf of Team Kids and our Public Safety Partners, we applaud the students and families of Alderwood for taking action on 5 critical community issues:
• Hunger $3,750
Goal: Fill 8 barrels
Outcome: Filled 10 barrels of food to feed struggling families through Families Forward
• Homelessness $4,500
Goal: 2 vanloads
Outcome: 2.25 vanloads of clothing and toys to Santa Ana’s Southwest Community Center to help other families in Orange County
• Literacy $1,100
Goal: $1080
Outcome: Over 1000 gently used books for children who have few or no books at home, via Read for the Record, to be donated to the OC Early Literacy Project
• Environment & Animals $190 (estimated)
Goal: $187
Outcome: Recyclables to support Pacific Marine Mammal Center’s effort to rehabilitate and protect marine animals
• Animal Protection $1, 976.75
100% of the proceeds from the carnival will go to the Irvine Animal Shelter to support the care and feeding of stray and abandoned animals
Alderwood students raised cash and donated goods with a value of over $11,516.75 to charity!
Even more importantly, students learned the power they have to make a difference for other children and people in need.
