This month’s theme is “Peace”
People often talk about the goal of building tolerance, but we can do so much more than simply “tolerate” each other. September’s theme is set aside to build respect, appreciation and peace through non-violence, citizenship, good will, freedom, and service! Help celebrate the compassion, unity and great accomplishments we can create when we all work together.

Here are 3 fun service activities the whole family can do together at home or in your neighborhood to promote peace
- September 11 is a nationally recognized day for service and remembrance! http://911dayofservice.org. Honor war veterans in your community and ask them about their experiences serving our country. 2 September 21st is the International Day of Peace! Join kids from across the globe to create your own piece of peaceful artwork and submit it to Peace Pals. Visit http://www.wppspeacepals.org/
3 Write a letter to our troops abroad or coordinate personal care kits, collecting and packaging items to send to members of the National Guard from your state who are currently serving overseas! Visit http://www.ng.mil/resources/states.aspx

- September 25th is Coastal Cleanup Day. Participate in a beach clean up near you! http://www.oceanconservancy.org
• Labor Day is September 6th. The holiday tributes the working class contributions to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country and is usually celebrated with summer activities - swimming, camping, picnics, etc. However you choose to celebrate, be sure to implement the Leave No Trace principals!
