Earth Day Service Project
Team Kids' hosts successful 2009 Earth Day and Global Youth Service Day Event!
Approximately 50 Team Kids members and supporters volunteered for three hours at the Turtle Rock Nature Center in Irvine, CA on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in honor of Earth Day and Global Youth Service Day.
Team Kids volunteers and partners accomplished all of the goals for this Earth Day Service Project.
• We planted eight native California plants, and removed non-indigenous plants from two planting areas and the labyrinth in the Turtle Rock Nature Center Preserve.
• We learned the essential elements for survival in the wilderness from Todd Larson of Elemental Awareness!
• We learned about the importance of preserving California's native environment for our insect, arachnid, amphibious, reptilian, and other friends from our friends at Inside the Outdoors!
• We began a journey to nurture the areas we worked in at the Turtle Rock Nature Center on Second Saturdays from 9am-noon.
• We got dirty, we made a difference, and we had FUN!!!
