Team Kids LemonAID was created alongside Irvine students following Hurricane Katrina as a vehicle to mobilize our youngest citizens to show their support for the victims in New Orleans. The first Team Kids LemonAID Project mobilized 1,200 kids, to host 220 youth-run LemonAID stands, and raised $11,700 for victims in New Orleans. Since Katrina, LemonAID was hosted following the Wildfires in California, the Earthquake in Haiti, and the disaster in Japan.
Since 2005, more than $90,000 has been raised by children through Team Kids LemonAID stands held across the nation. Following the devastation in Japan, kids from Hawaii to Maryland raised more than $43,000 in just 21 days for the American Red Cross. As always, 100% of ALL donations from youth led efforts, are given to charities other than Team Kids!
“It’s so inspiring to see the unbridled enthusiasm the kids have to serve and to know they are helping others,” says Team Kids Founder and CEO Julie Hudash. “The Team Kids LemonAID Project is a great way to bring people together to make a difference and we hope it will be the beginning of an ongoing commitment to serve throughout the year.”
