Lend Your Time & Talents To Help Encourage and Empower Our Youth

Volunteers are critical to the success of Team Kids programs and fundraising efforts. Whether you are a kid or an adult, we probably have a volunteer opportunity to match your interests and skills.

February

This month’s theme is “Seniors”

Seniors are elderly people who helped paved the way for our future. Although seniors are strong and wise, some seniors may have special needs. February is the month to show our appreciation for what seniors have done for us. By helping and spending time with senior citizens, we can show our gratitude for the love and support they have provided us.

Without a history, there is no future, so don’t be shy, go out and show your appreciation today!

Here are some ways you and your whole family can get together to spend time with a senior citizen:

1. Help a senior citizen in need! By helping a senior citizen with various chores around the house like lawn mowing or by taking out the trash, you would be providing them with a sense of relief from the many task they may have.

2. Show off your creativity. Make a small gift such as place-mats, sun-catchers, wind-chimes, or any other gifts to make a senior citizen’s day. You could also use your literary talents by writing a poem or a letter that show your appreciation.

3. Spend time with a senior citizen. Giving your own personal time is a great way to show how much you care. You could play a game with a senior citizen, display your various talents such as singing or instrument playing, or by simply talking.

Other Dates to Remember:
• February 14th is Valentine’s Day. Make a Valentine for a senior citizen near you. Remind them that they are always in your heart.
• February 21st is President’s Day. This is a great time to spend time with a senior citizen. Ask them about all the different President’s during their lifetime.
