Vista Verde Elementary 2010
Team Kids Challenge Carnival, proceeds were donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.
On behalf of Team Kids and our Public Safety Partners, we are excited to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary of the Team Kids Challenge at Vista Verde!
Our overall theme for this year is
"Reduce Reuse Recycle"
JOIN US FOR THE VISTA VERDE TEAM KIDS CARNIVAL THIS FRIDAY!
*Each Vista Verde student will be receiving 5 complimentary tickets for the Carnival. Additional tickets may be purchased before or after school, as well as at the Carnival at 25cents each or 5 for $1.00*
Carnival: Friday, September 24th (11:45am-1:00pm)
School-wide Carnival created and run by the Leadership Team
Below is an outline of our progress at Vista Verde. Keep up the good work!
WEEK 1: REDUCE
Issue: Environment/Conservation
Goal 1: Have the entire school make a pledge for conservation in our daily lives
Vista Verde did an awesome job in their conservation pledge, 90% of the students signed their pledges. The sheets are still up around school, let's make it 100%!!
Goal 2: Bring in your old garden equipment
It's not too late to bring in your old garden equipment!
Beneficiary: Vista Verde California Native Garden
WEEK 2: REUSE
Issue: Hunger
Goal: Bring in plastic grocery bags and/or reusable grocery bags for the food pantry to distribute to families in need. Fill 1 box per class!
Over 1400 plastic and reusable bags were collected to benefit Families Forward! These bags will be used to distribute food to over 700 families : )
Beneficiary: Families Forward
WEEK 3: RECYCLE
Issue: Literacy
Goal: Collect 500 books to recycle for kids in need
Lots of books have been collected in front of the school. Keep up with good work! Lets try to double our goal!!!!!!!
Beneficiary: Vista Verde’s sister school in Santa Ana, Lincoln Elementary School
WEEK 4: CARNIVAL, Friday September 24th
Goal: Conduct a school-wide carnival; donate 100% of the proceeds to beneficiary charity.
Beneficiary: The Make a Wish Foundation (selected by the Leadership Team)
*All students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade were invited to serve on the Team Kids Leadership Team. The Leadership Team will met WEDNESDAYS during lunch with the Team Kids Staff and Volunteers to plan the school-wide Carnival.*
The Vista Verde Leadership Team did a great job at the Carnival and raised $845.50 to benefit a charity they selected, the Make a Wish Foundation!
